The first lodge at Osu, or Osu these days, was built by the Swedish African Company in the early 17th century. In 1657 the Swedish headquarter in Cape Coast was taken by the Danish; this resulted in a Danish take over from al Swedish property, including the Osu lodge.
In 1659 the Danish commander was tricked, with a story about Denmark being conquered, and he sold the old Swedish lodge to the Dutch, the Ga paramount chief Akaikai heard about this trick, he didn`t liked it and asked the Dutch to leave.
